Why Valve has Succeeded

Ever since Valve has hit the spotlight, they have come out with awesome, if not record breaking software. Steam, which was once frowned at and rarely used, has now broken into the gaming scene with awesome features and innovative ideas that were not thought of before. From the company that brought us Half Life and Day of Defeat, Valve never let us down with their hard work at bringing the best gaming experience to the gamers. Although Steam was dismissed as a fad and a one hit wonder, the Steam team battled on through all the tough critics and has labored to bring one of the best gaming programs on the market - for free. For some who may not know of Steam, steam allows the user to download games and buy games through their secure portal and keep saves and play these games forever. It also has a chat program along with it which connects gamers from all over the world to play and chat for hours on end. With EA coming out with a mock called ‘Nucleus’, Valve seems to be way ahead of the game. As companies look towards programs like what Valve has built for stopping piracy, we are coming closer and closer to a more secure gaming industry.

Valve has done what many other companies dream of and that is win many games over through hard work and trust. They will continue to bring us the up-to-date items that we crave and in great haste which we yearn for. But software isn’t their only great achievement. With Half-Life came an awesome engine that rocked the industry for a long time with its next-gen graphics and physics that we didn’t see again until CryEngin2. But the main thing that has given Valve the edge is that they have worked for the customer rather than a lot of the companies out there that try and just get their pretty penny. Valve also never had the real support many others had from the beginning so it made them really have to work for it. But all in all Valve is on the high road leading to great works.

With all the great things Valve has manufactured, what shall we see next? Could it be an MMORPG that a lot of top companies seem to be looking into or possibly another FPS. Only time will tell, and time has seemed to treat Valve well.
